Book Club
I have been in my bookclub for many years, and I love it. We have read quite a few books, and have enjoyed quite a few bottles of wine discussing them. These are my favorites so far. And I remember most of these to be book club favorites too. (If I am wrong, I am sure the girls will e-mail me!)
Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt ***: Wow, what a great book. Many find it depressing, but I did not. I think the writer had come to terms with his life, and it shows through in the writing. He writes about his past with humor and love for his family. I could not put it down. Lovely writing. Lovely book.
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden***: Okay. If you plan on reading this, plan on getting NO SLEEP. This was an amazing book. The characters were so developed, the story was so passionate. You just cant stop reading it. An all-time favorite for me.
These is my Words by Nancy E. Turner***: A new bookclub favorite. The story is so developed, and you love the main character. You just want to have some coffee with her. She is someone you could really admire. The story is written in a diary style revolving around one woman who was a pioneer in Arizona. You have got everything...Indians, guns, passion, betrayal and love, all in one awesome book. Another MUST HAVE.
