The Rapture of Canaan by Sheri Reynolds: This writer has not gotten the recognition I feel she deserves. Her writing is truly beautiful, and her stories are as well. The character development and relationships in The Rapture is heart warming. The writing is descriptive and emotional. I am also reading her other book, A Gracious Plenty, which I enjoy as well.

Before Women Had Wings by Connie May Fowler: The bookclub agreed the writing in this was really beautiful. The passion and emotions in this book came through in a touching and soft way. The story, touching and sad at times, is also uplifting. A sweet and emotional story.

Naked by David Sedaris: If you want a rip-roaring good time while reading a story, this is it. It is laugh out loud funny. Very fun. The bookclub enjoyed it. Don't read it late at night next to your sleeping significant other...you may awaken him/her.

Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells: The relationships among these women were so developed and descriptive, it almost depressed me that I did not have a circle of friends quite like this one. It describes the strength of women in their toughest and celebrated moments, and also supports the argument that women are not the weaker sex. This strength is drawn from our female relationships as a support system. A good "Chick" book.
